DO NOT HESITATE — SIGN UP NOW!
Greetings Young Workers,
My name is Evan Wickham and I have the honour of being your Provincial Young Worker Representative for the 2019-2021 term. For those unfamiliar with the role, yes, young workers do have a voice. One of the progressive aspects of our union is the recognition that the vibrancy and innovation of youth workers play an essential part in its function. Provided the opportunity, it is up to us to develop and create polices and movements which bring our dreams, goals and concerns to the forefront of labour reforms. What our future jobs look like depend on our actions now.
We have been given a committee to speak about increasing awareness on key young worker issues such as environmental sustainability; international fair trade; part-time issues and job security.
I welcome your involvement in this initiative no matter what your level of experience and I take great pleasure in inviting you to share your voice at our annual Young Workers Conference on August 9th – August 11th at the Chelsea Hotel. Child care and accommodations will be covered as well as lost wages. To register you have to sign in / Create a profile on the OPSEU’s Members Portal, go to events and you will be pre-registered once you’re under the age of 35 and complete the application.
Deadline for submission will be May 31st 2019. If you have comments or concerns please email presidentlocal376@gmail.com. Thank you and I hope to see you there.
In Solidarity,
Evan Wickham
President
