Bargaining Update – August 3, 2021

Over the next three days (August 3, 4, and 5), your bargaining team will be meeting with the employer. The goal is to table the entire proposal package by the end of this week so that we can begin negotiations immediately and work toward a better collective agreement that satisfies members’ demands.

You will note that the proposals are rooted in feedback from consultations with faculty and students; existing best practices in our system and in other PSE institutions; model language from and discussions with CAUT and other PSE leaders; and through review of both the language proposed by the locals this round, along with language that has been table previously. It is all backed by research and bolstered by the findings in the updated Report on Education.

Much appreciation to the many volunteers who have stepped forward to offer their skills, expertise, and support this round. Our strength at the table is in our connections to and solidarity with one another. Our ability to reach out to members quickly and clearly is key to our success.

Below you will find downloadable PDFs of our presentations and proposals from today related to equity, workload and partial load. We look forward to our discussion later this week, and we will be sending further information over the next few days. We will be launching the full updated Report on Education, along with a series of related issue sheets and videos in the coming weeks, so that all faculty have the information they need to understand our context this round.

In solidarity,
